Responsability, Impact & Factories

Producing new garments isn't sustainable and we don't pretend that it is. Since we are in the business of making goods, we have a responsibility to offset and understand the scope of our environmental impact. First and foremost, we produce in limited quantities to avoid leftover inventory and waste. We are in partnership with leading environmental non-profit organizations that enable us to undo some of the damage that comes with producing garments.

For each order placed, a tree is planted in the north-west region of Madagascar through the eden reforestation projects. Eden are experts in responsible reforestation, having planted 265 million trees to this day and created 2.6 million work days for local communities. Madagascar is a nation with over 200,000 species of plants and animals that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. Sadly more than 90% of Madagascar’s original forests have been destroyed, displacing entire animal species from their homes.

WKC has successfully achieved neutral - climate neutral certified status by measuring its 2019 greenhouse gas emissions footprint, purchasing carbon credits to offset that footprint in its entirety, and implementing plans to reduce emissions this year and beyond. Carbon credits go toward reducing and capturing carbon dioxide, and supporting a range of projects such as forest conservation, renewable energy, and transportation. NEUTRAL.PT

As proud members of ecologi, we are able to reduce the carbon footprint of each of our employees, as well as offsetting any business travel (which we keep to a minimum). Ecologi calculates the amount of co2 emissions we produce as individuals within the company, and allows us to offset those emissions with monetary donations to projects that work to reduce atmospheric co2 levels. Visit here our ecologi page.

Most of our products are cut, trim and finished in our in-house manufacturing. This allows us to assure that the garments are made following the legislative requirements & best practices of the textile industry and to guarantee that our employees receive fair payments and operate in an ethical environment. We definitely know “who made your clothes”!
most of the fabrics, materials and processes we use to make the garments (cut, trim, dying, accessories packaging) are developed or bought from familiar companies in Portugal. Not only this allow us to assure a great quality of the materials, but at the same time we are helping the local community. We would be able to get cheaper prices supplying from other countries (where the wages and work conditions can be poor) but we are seriously committed to follow our ethical values and prefer to pay a fair price.
to ensure the maximum safety of our products (for consumers and employees) and to minimize the environmental impact, we follow a chemicals compliance policy of chemicals that shouldn’t be used, or the usage should be limited (rsl) in our garments. All suppliers or partners that work for our business are aware of our chemical compliance policy and are committed to follow it too. All our inks are Innobella textile inks GOTS 5.0 certified
